Africa Academy for Public Health was invited to attend and participate in the 9th Tanzania Health Summit that was held on 11th to October 13th 2022, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Center, Dar es Salaam. Under the theme “Quality of Healthcare in Tanzania: The Current Status and Area of Improvement toward achieving HSSP V,” aimed to explore and inform the stakeholders of the present situation and the areas that will need more resources to achieve HSSP V quality targets. The summit also aimed to promote continued collaborative efforts of the public and private sector in ensuring delivery of quality healthcare.
In support of MDH efforts to enhance laboratory services for our clients, we developed an electronic data collection tool for monitoring quality and improvement of services over time. We also built capacity for 78 champions to use this new and efficient system in Kagera, Geita, Tabora and Dar es Salaam Regions. #AAPH_Africa

The Africa Research, Implementation Science and Education (ARISE) Network - hosted by Africa Academy for Public Health - meets in Dar es Salaam to discuss prospects for future interventional studies focused on adolescent health and nutrition in sub-Saharan Africa.
In collaboration with MUHAS and HSPS, AAPH has hosted a series of annual scientific symposia and workshops since 2014. These are part of the capacity building component of the Implementation Science grant hosted at MUHAS and supported by AAPH and HSPH. This year’s symposium was titled “Advancing Implementation Science on Delivery of Essential Interventions and Services for Improving Women and Adolescents Health and Nutrition in Tanzania” on Thursday the 20th of January 2022 at Serena Hotel Dar es Salaam.

Today, we are all proud of the achievements that Tanzania has made including development of the National Guidelines for Respectful and Compassionate Care as well as Guidelines for Mainstreaming and Integration of gender and respectful care for RMNCAH services in the country. These achievements, as mentioned earlier result overall effort of a wide spectrum of partners and platforms at global, regional, and country levels. As we together strive to realize RMC and improve healthcare services in our great nation under the leadership of the Government of Tanzania, we sought to interest and share with RMNCAH Annual Scientific Conference delegates the work we have done so far.
AAPH was recognized for participation and Dr. Lyatuu (of AAPH) won the Best Oral Presentation Award. AAPH is ever committed to implementing evidence-based research, training in research, capacity building and support translation of evidence for public health policy and practice. This was an avenue to share some of our works and indeed expand our network for collaborative efforts in NCDs prevention.
Africa Research, Implementation Science, and Education (ARISE) Network established a mobile survey platform inSSA to generate longitudinal data regarding knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) related to COVID-19 preventionand management and to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on health and socioeconomic domains.
